How we work

From scope call to Certificate of Electrical Safety, a five-stage path

  1. Scope call

Week 0. 30 minutes. We cover the upgrade scope, existing service size, switchboard age, target capacity, EV charger needs and whether RPEQ engineering applies.

  2. Site survey

Week 1. Brad inspects on site: switchboard condition, cable size and route, earthing, available space, fault-current expectations. Photos and a survey sheet stay on file.

  3. Design and fixed quote

Week 2. Drawings, materials list and RPEQ sign-off when service exceeds 100 A. Fixed-price quote, no variations unless scope changes in writing.

  4. Ergon and meter paperwork

Week 3 to 5. We lodge the after-meter and metering forms with Ergon for service-size changes, new meter points or EV-charger sub-circuits. Lead time managed before the crew mobilises.

  5. Install, energise and CoES

Week 5 to 6. Switchboard built off-site where possible. On-site cable pull, terminations and energising in agreed windows. Insulation, earth fault loop and polarity tests, Certificate of Electrical Safety lodged, handover folder with as-built drawings and RPEQ docs.

Frequently asked questions

About commercial electrical.

For solar over 5 kW per phase or any EV charger over 7 kW, yes. Single-phase services are limited to 5 kW solar inverters under Ergon's connection rules. Three-phase also lets you spread load and run higher-capacity equipment without tripping. We assess the existing service before quoting.

Any commercial service over 100 A, any work that materially changes fault-current at the switchboard, and most multi-tenant or industrial installs in QLD require an RPEQ (Registered Professional Engineer Queensland) drawing set. We bring an RPEQ partner in on day one of design, included in the quote, no surprise fee at the end.

CoES is the QLD-required certificate confirming the work meets AS/NZS 3000 and was tested. It must be lodged with the network within 30 days of energising. We lodge it for you and hand you a digital copy with the as-built drawings at project handover.

Yes, for any commercial site. Switchboard cutover and final energising happen in the agreed window (typically Sunday morning or after-hours). The cable pull and pre-wire happen during normal hours with no impact on power.

Site survey + design: 1 week. Ergon paperwork (service-size change): 4 to 6 weeks lead time. On-site install + meter swap: 1 to 2 days. Total roughly 6 to 8 weeks from kick-off to energised.

Yes. $20M Public Liability across every site, current certificate available on request. We also carry Working at Heights and Confined Space tickets for any work above 2 m or inside switch rooms.

Yes. In Queensland, electrical installation work has to be carried out under an electrical contractor licence, and the contractor has to be licensed to contract with you for it. Every electrical job we take on is done under a Queensland electrical contractor licence, and we put the licence details on the paperwork so you can check them against the public register yourself.
