Yes. Any commercial system over 30 kW is treated as embedded generation and requires a formal connection application with Ergon Energy. Approval typically takes 30 to 60 business days. We lodge the application on day one of design so the network approval runs in parallel with procurement, not after.
For 2025-26 the temporary $20,000 instant asset write-off applies to small business (under $10M turnover). Most commercial solar projects exceed that threshold and depreciate over the asset life. Talk to your accountant about the small business energy incentive (bonus 20% deduction for energy-efficient assets), which often applies.
No, in 99% of cases. The DC roof work happens with no impact on your power. The final cutover to live (the changeover at the switchboard) takes 30 to 60 minutes; we schedule it for a Sunday or after-hours window so trading is not interrupted.
STCs (small-scale technology certificates) apply to systems under 100 kW and are claimed once upfront, discounting your install cost. LGCs (large-scale generation certificates) apply to systems over 100 kW and are earned over 15 years per MWh generated. We model both pathways and recommend the better option for your system size.
We send Brad on site to inspect the roof structure, purlin spacing and material before quoting hardware. If your roof needs strengthening or replacement first, we tell you upfront. We won't quote a system that compromises the building.
Yes. PPA (you pay only for the kWh generated, no upfront cost) is available for commercial systems over 100 kW with our finance partners. We also offer chattel mortgage and operating lease for capex-friendly structures. The 48-hour quote PDF shows all three options.
